Florent Morio

Florent Morio has been Full Professor of Medical Mycology and Parasitology at the School of Medicine, Nantes Université since 2022. He also serves as a clinical mycologist and parasitologist at Nantes University Hospital, France and is a collaborator of the French National Reference Center for Invasive Mycoses and Antifungals (Institut Pasteur, Paris).

He earned his Doctor of Pharmacy degree from Montpellier University in 2007 and completed a PhD in 2012 at Nantes Université. In 2018, he was a visiting researcher in the laboratory of Prof. Geraldine Butler at University College Dublin (UCD), Ireland.

His main research interests include the epidemiology of fungal pathogens, the laboratory diagnosis of fungal infections, and mechanisms of antifungal resistance. He is also actively involved in teaching mycology to medical students. He has authored over 150 peer-reviewed publications and book chapters. In addition to his research and teaching activities, he serves as a reviewer for numerous scientific journals in medical mycology and is a board member of the French Society for Medical Mycology (SFMM).
