Pasqualotto is an Assistant Professor of Infectious Diseases at the Federal University of Health Sciences of Porto Alegre (UFCSPA), Brazil. In his PhD thesis, he studied the epidemiology of candidaemia in a large tertiary hospital (Santa Casa de Porto Alegre), where he currently works as the Medical Director of the Molecular Biology Laboratory, and the chief of Infectious Diseases Service. He spent three years in Manchester (UK) working as a post-doctoral scientist to David W. Denning. He has published more than 200 papers and book chapters, including the book “Aspergillosis: From Diagnosis to Prevention” published by Springer in 2010 (1,027 pages). Pasqualotto has been the Deputy Editor of Mycoses for the last 10 years. He has a MBA degree (strategic business administration).

Pasqualotto is particularly interested in innovation, especially when applied to health sciences and business. He is particularly keen to strength and expand his research networks, with a special focus on new diagnostic tests. He is currently running the largest clinical trial in the world on histoplasmosis.
