Dr. Arghadip Samaddar is an Associate Professor in the Department of Neuromicrobiology at the National Institute of Mental Health and Neurosciences (NIMHANS), Bengaluru, India, an Institute of National Importance specializing in neurological disease management. His expertise spans Clinical Mycology, Invasive Fungal Infections, Endemic Mycosis, and Antimicrobial Stewardship. His current research focuses on cerebral phaeohyphomycosis, fungal biomarkers, fungal genomics, virulence and pathogenesis, host-fungus interactions, and antifungal resistance. Dr. Samaddar was a Fellow of the Young European Confederation of Medical Mycology (FYECMM) and served on the Executive Council of the Indian Society of Medical Mycologists (ISMM) for South India (2023–2025). He has held editorial roles, including Associate Editor for Frontiers in Pharmacology: Infectious Diseases and Guest Editor for Mycopathologia. He is an active member of several professional societies, including the Infectious Diseases Society of America (IDSA), Mycoses Study Group Education and Research Consortium (MSGERC), International Society for Human and Animal Mycology (ISHAM), ISMM, ISHAM Fungal Diagnostics Working Group, and the Fungal Genomics Working Group. Dr. Samaddar serves as a reviewer for numerous esteemed international journals, such as Clinical Microbiology Reviews, International Journal of Infectious Diseases, Medical Mycology, Journal of Medical Mycology, Microbiology Spectrum, Journal of Medical Microbiology, and Mycopathologia. He has published extensively in peer-reviewed journals and is actively involved in training postgraduate students and microbiologists in medical mycology and neuroinfections.
