New date: 5th ECMM Educational Symposium- RARE YEASTS – A GROWING THREAT, 1-2 July 2021, IASI – ROMANIA
21-01-2021
In view of the current state of the COVID 19 Pandemic, and following consultation with the ECMM Board, ECMM Educational Officer and Congress Care, it was decided to postpone the Educational Symposium in Iasi, Romania on “Rare Yeasts – A Growing Threat” to July 1-2, 2021.
It is believed that the postponement will favor the travel possibilities and enlarge the participation at the Symposium.

This meeting, jointly organized by ECMM, ESCMID, and ISHAM, is presenting a novel approach to a microbial group – the “rare yeasts” as human pathogens of significance. It will focus on a new aspect of fungal infections, which did not thus far receive adequate attention, and may contribute to further interest, resulting in novel diagnostic and therapeutic measures.
The scientific program will include state-of-the-art presentations in the field, from taxonomy and pathogenicity to immunity and guidelines for infection management.
Practical sessions will be dedicated to morphologic and molecular tools for rare yeasts identification.
The host city – Iasi, is the Romanian second largest city and it has traditionally been one of the leading centers of social, cultural, academic, and artistic life. On 24 January 2019, the city was officially named Historical Capital of Romania, a title that recognizes the role it had in the country’s history.
We look forward to welcoming you in Romania!
