ECMM participation in the workshop on essential diagnostics for serious fungal diseases, TB and other opportunistic infections in advanced HIV disease in Kampala, Uganda

20-06-2019

In April 2018, a workshop on essential diagnostics for serious fungal diseases, TB and other opportunistic infections in advanced HIV disease was convened in Kampala, Uganda. This workshop was led by GAFFI and supported by the ECMM, and aimed to ensure universal access to diagnostics for serious fungal infections by 2025.
The meeting was timed to precede and help inform the WHO’s Strategic Advisory Group of Experts on In Vitro Diagnostics (SAGE-IVD) meeting from which the new WHO Essential Diagnostic list (EDL) emanated. The overall aim of the workshop was to gather experts and review evidence on available diagnostics for HIV/AIDS-associated opportunistic infections and serious fungal diseases for inclusion in the WHO EDL.

Jean Pierre Gangneux participated on behalf of the ECMM at this workshop.
