Inês Caldeira holds a bachelor’s degree in Biochemistry from the University of Porto and a master’s degree in Applied Biochemistry from the University of Minho. In 2024, Inês joined the Biomedicine and Health Sciences PhD program at the School of Medicine from the University of Minho, where she is currently developing her PhD thesis under the supervision of Dr. Cristina Cunha and Dr. Agostinho Carvalho. Her PhD thesis focuses mainly on exploring the influence of specific host genetic backgrounds on the activation of immunity and inflammation and how that may render individuals susceptible to fungal infection. Most specifically, she is currently dissecting how Interleukin-37 (IL-37) regulates the metabolic reprogramming of myeloid cells upon fungal infection and influences susceptibility to invasive pulmonary aspergillosis
