Simon Feys

Simon Feys, MD, PhD, FECMM, is an internist and physician-scientist currently completing a critical care fellowship in the Medical ICU at University Hospitals Leuven, Belgium. He conducts translational and clinical research in the team of Prof. Joost Wauters at KU Leuven, focusing on fungal infections in the ICU. His primary research interest is virus-associated pulmonary aspergillosis, which he studies from translational, epidemiological, and clinical perspectives, including the development of novel immunodiagnostics and immunotherapeutics. Dr. Feys is the 2025 recipient of the Young Investigator Award of the European Society of Clinical Microbiology and Infectious Diseases (ESCMID) and has published in leading journals in pulmonology, infectious diseases, and intensive care medicine, including The Lancet Respiratory Medicine, The Lancet Microbe, and the American Journal of Respiratory and Critical Care Medicine.
