Alexandre Alanio, M.D., Ph.D., is a young french medical mycologist. He is currently Associate Professor at University Sorbonne Paris Cité and Saint-Louis Hospital, Paris, and researcher at the Institut Pasteur and collaborator of the French National Reference Center for Mycoses and Antifungals. He aims at bridging medical mycology with basic research on the pathophysiology of invasive fungal infections and translating new biological tools into diagnostic tests. He published the ECIL-5 recommendation for the diagnosis of pneumocystosis in hematology. He is involved in the ISHAM Aspergillus resistance working group. He is an associate editor for New Microbes and New Infections. He owns >50 publications and 5 patents.
