Rita Oladele is a medical doctor with a specialist qualification in clinical microbiology. She hosts an annual Invasive Fungal Infections forum in Nigeria and is the current President of Medical Mycology Society of Nigeria (MMSN). She completed her residency-training program in 2010 and she obtained her PhD from the University of Manchester in 2018. She has expertise in conducting research on clinical mycology and has been instrumental to mapping the epidemiology of invasive fungal infections in Nigeria. She was the principal investigator in a 12-centre cryptococcal antigen screening survey and has facilitated the training of over 700 health care providers in Nigeria on the screening, diagnosis and management of cryptococcal disease in 2018. She was a contributor for the 2018 ECMM guidelines on mucormycosis. . She is the principal investigator in a 10-centre on histoplasmosis funded by Gilead Sciences. She is presently the postgraduate coordinator of the Department of Medical Microbiology & Parasitology, University of Lagos, Nigeria.
