Livio Pagano is currently Associated Professor of Hematology at the Catholic University of Sacred Heart, Rome, and serves as an attending physician on the Division of Hematology, Policlinico A. Gemelli, Roma, Italy.
After graduading in Medicine in 1980, he specialized in Internal Medicine and then in Hematology.
Actually he is the Head of the Unit for the “Treatment of Hematological Malignancies in Elderly Patients”
Livio Pagano is a member a of numerous academic societies involved in hematology and in infectious diseases, including GIMEMA, ASH, EHA, Società Italiana Ematologia (Executive board member2014-), EORTC-IDG (Executive board member from 2012-), ESCMID, Federazione Italiana Micopatologia Umana ed Animale (President of this Society for 2007-08, 2011-15). He is involved on editorial review board for several journals.
He is author or co-author of more than 300 original manuscripts. His main areas of interest are diagnosis and treatment of hematological malignancies, the management of bacterial, fungal and viral infectious complications in neutropenic patients.
