Athanasios Tragiannidis, MD, PhD is Associate Professor of Pediatrics-Pediatric Hematology Oncology of the 2nd Department of Pediatrics at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, Greece.
Dr Tragiannidis qualified from the Medical School of Triest, Italy in 1997. His postgraduate education included residency training in Pediatrics and Pediatric Hematology-Oncology at the AHEPA University Hospital in Thessaloniki, fellowships in Hematology in Papanikolaou Hospital in Thessaloniki and in Pediatric Hematology-Oncology in the Department of Pediatric Hematology-Oncology at the University Children’s Hospital in Muenster, Germany. He was awarded a scholarship of the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) for research in the Department of Pediatric Hematology Oncology in the Children’s University Hospital, in Muenster, Germany.
Dr Tragiannidis’s major research interests include hematological malignancies, fungal infections in the immunocompromised host, vaccines and the design and conduct of clinical research studies. He has more than 97 publications in Pubmed and participated as principal investigator or sub-investigator in more than 12 clinical trials. Dr Tragiannidis is a member of many national and international medical societies and acts as a reviewer in more than 20 international peer reviewed journals. He participates in the Editorial Board and as a Guest Editor in the Journal of Fungi and in the Editorial Board of Cardiovascular and Hematology Agents in medicinal chemistry journal.
