ECMM Certification of the University of Innsbruck & University Hospital Innsbruck

In January, 2018 the European Confederation of Medical Mycology (ECMM) designated the Division of Hygiene and Medical Microbiology and the Comprehensive Centre for Infection, Immunity and Transplantation of Medical University of Innsbruck & University Hospital Innsbruck, Austria as an ECMM Excellence Center with Diamond Status (Excellence in laboratory mycology and clinical mycology AND participation in ECMM endorsed clinical or epidemiological studies) following the recommendation of the ECMM EC committee. In line with the ECMM policy and strategy, an ECMM EC participates in the strengthening of country resources, in terms of information, services, research and training, in support of national health development.

This designation is a huge success for the Medical University of Innsbruck & University Hospital Innsbruck. Innsbruck is now one out of five evaluated Excellence centres with diamond status in Europa, displaying a high quality in diagnosing and treating patients suffering from fungal infections.
